Kylie Turns 2

On May 30th our California kids brought Kylie to the Northwest to celebrate her 2nd birthday. They flew into Portland, where Kurt picked them up. They stopped at our house for a few hours before moving on to Jeanne's family. Erick & Jeanne flew off to Las Vegas for a few days while Kylie went home with Jeanne's parents to Washington. Later that week we took our trailer to Maryhill State Park in Washington to be near other members of the family so it was easier for the kids to visit again. On Thursday evening Erick & Jeanne took us and her parents to dinner. We haven't spent much time with her folks, so it was fun to get to know them better. Erick brought Kylie to our camp on Friday to spend the day. His mother and some of his other relatives also showed up, bringing more food and chairs. We had a mini birthday party, with Kylie as the guest of honor. The park is beautiful and the weather cooperated, so we spent the entire day outside. I was a little concerned the night before because the wind came up and the rain poured down. It was quite a storm. But by Friday morning the sun was out , it warmed up to the upper 70's with a slight breeze coming off the river. A perfect day! Everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Sunday was Kylie's official birthday party at Chuck E Cheese in Vancouver. There were several other kids, along with the adults in the party. Very chaotic, but fun to watch Kylie and the others as they played. Chuck E Cheese finally came out to meet the kids. Kylie wasn't sure she wanted to get too close, but he was very patient and she finally started talking to him. She also had fun playing the games and going on the rides, but I think her favorite part was plunking the game tokens in the money slots. But all good things must come to an end and on Monday morning the three of them flew back to California.
